APOLOGY TO THE STOLEN GENERATION
The Australian and New Zealand Society of Jungian Analysts and the Australian Psychoanalytical Society understand how powerfully the symbolic and the gestural can affect human beings for good or ill. We therefore celebrate the Government¹s formal apology to the Members of the Stolen Generation on Wednesday, 13th February, 2008, as one momentous step towards Reconciliation and healing which calls for further substantive steps that encourage and engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in determining their future. We look forward to contributing actively to this process of reparation. Leon Petchkovsky President, ANZSJA, and Maria Teresa Hooke President, APAS.
